One Week Until We View Our New 39.85 Acre Property

Posted by in Conversation Starters, Family, Inspiration, News, Uncategorized

There’s been a lot of talk around here lately. …A lot of busy bee’s, talking about how exciting it is that we’re embarking on our dream, and that we are now, one step closer!

Some might just call us crazy. Others… “Go getters”, family farmers, fun folks, or my favorite yet; wild wanderers.

I do like the wild.

But I’m also a little bit of a realist. I’m aware of what I’m getting myself into and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have concerns.

Like, how are we going to go about every aspect of taking scratch land and turning it into our dream? …but in knowing the reality and already having the realization (years ago) that I want to enjoy every day of my life, it has led to this moment.

…My trail has led me on my path to this time, here and now. Where we are approaching something that seemed so far away, and still is in a way…

So, I’m nervous that I won’t be living in a spacious home for a while.

Oh.

Well.

I am in this body, in this RV, on my parents property, thinking about how one should actually pre-plan staying on bare land with 3 young boys and 3 chihuahuas.

I’ve been doing it for 11 years this 21st of May. Ya know… Mothering like a mother-hugga! (I love hugs 🤗 ) I know what I need to do. It’s up to me to do it. Be accountable for what I’m trying to accomplish.

I randomly wish that some humanitarian, do-gooder will stumble across a post and have the realization that they can actually do good, right now, by contacting me and letting me know how they would like to help.

I like info. I like mentors. I like resources. I like any helpfulness, really. It’s part of this whole #behelpful #notahindrance thing, I’m all about.

Well, I spent all day cleaning and organizing for next weeks trip. I’m spent!

I may be physically tired this evening, but I am mentally already building barns, decorating rooms, and rescuing animals.

I’m looking forward to my dreams and wishing you a restful evening!

Holly – Youga

Posted by in Beauty Mode, Conversation Starters, Family, Life Hacks, News

I don’t just do Yoga… I’m not into that 🙄. Just kidding…😆 I just mean that I do muh-own thang! – because I’m like that!

Youga… to me, is whatever YOUga-na make it!

I don’t know the yoga beginning like I’d like. I even took the beginning course for being a certified yoga teacher, but decided that I didn’t give a f@ck 🤭 about labels or accreditations.

I was a certified baby sitter and certified puppy trainer when I was 12 years old. It taught me that I like to babysit my own dogs more than anything.

A year into college, I got married which led to my parents quitting paying my tuition. I ended up quitting school. – I was studying how to be an entrepreneur anyway. The internet was becoming more useful and I was optimistic that school wasn’t right for me.

I kept planning on taking Yoga as one of my college classes. I even signed up for one that didn’t have enough students to justify their first class, so they shut it down. No traditional “Yoga” for me, it seems. Which is fine with me.

Luckily, I had been in ballet and gymnastics since I was around 4 years old so I always remembered stretching and certain moves. I was fit until 18 when I felt like life was a bit out of my control (I’m a Virgo) .

I also wore that horrible birth control patch and saw stretch marks in the first week. I hadn’t even had a boyfriend yet, but my sis took me to the clinic, and sure enough. Strip naked. Get on a cold table. Get violated and probed. Get a prescription. Lovely day that was….😵😩😶

Thankfully, after wearing the patch for a week and suffering severe mood swings and weight gain, I tore the patch off and never looked back.

Lucky for me, I’m married now and after 3 boys, my husband got a vasectomy. So no birth control needed. Until that rogue seed goes savage and decides to change my fate, but they went the extra mile when they did my husbands procedure so it would literally take a miracle.

With no worries of kids in my near future, I wanna stay fit. As fit as makes me happy. Enhanced Holly-O, in a sense. Sounds like a cereal. But it’s just optimal-me.

So as 1 part of a multifaceted self-care ritual, Youga, is my version. I make names up randomly for just about everything, and if you’ve heard it somewhere else, let me know because I say Youga, with the thought that I’m doing my own yoga based off of my own flow.

So every time you go rogue, doing exercise just know, that’s your version of Holly-Youga – to me : )

Do you call your practice something unique? Share in a comment below or find me on social media for a real life person!

Have an awesome night! I’m going to go do some pre-bedtime Holly-Youga : )

Happy Stretching!

Facing Fears: If There’s Nothing to Lose, Then That Tells Me, We Could All Win Somehow

Posted by in Conversation Starters, Inspiration, News

Hey!

In a world so occasionally terrifying, I choose to not be afraid to fail, but to attempt to succeed.

Life attempt 3,367,533,346,224:

I keep thinking about reaching out to my heroes, my role models, people who inspired me to be on my path, in the way that I choose to now walk it.

I’m always being told that to truly succeed: Get a mentor!

That’s not an easy one for me. I had limited good influences in my whole life and have to ask myself, “Who are my mentors?”

My Brain responds with… “I really love fun (duh!) So naturally, I was drawn to comedic movies and shows as a child and my parents were too. I’m sure that influenced me as well.

So I start thinking about some of my early years favorite, favorite movies.  Which were usually comedies like: Marry Poppins, Cone Heads, Wayne’s World, both Ace Ventura’s, Jurassic Park (not quite a comedy, but I’m giving an idea of the era I am from).

Then I start thinking about the comedians I enjoyed watching the most, talent like Dave Chappelle, Jim Carey, Rodney Dangerfield, Bob Hope, George Carlin, Jimmy Fallon, Adam Sandler, Dana Carvey, and Mike Meyers and the list goes on forever, not in that order, and this is only the comedian section.

I don’t want to start at the very bottom in show biz either. I’ve lived. I’ve been. I’ve seen sheeit. Then I start envisioning how I may approach the big wigs.

So instead, I’m writing as I imagine meeting these people in hypothetical scenarios that I’ll write out for you here in this moment as it flies from my thoughts.

Freestyle Approach of Dave Chappelle:

(Stay tuned for the “How I Would Approach My Mentors Series!”)

Ok, here it goes!

👋”Oh Hey Dave, sorry to take up your time… just another fan 🙂.

I  really enjoyed your Netflix 2 Episode Comedy Special! I was right there with you. I had the same thoughts on that shit! I just really dig how you keep it real with your truly hilarious jokes. You’re so good at it! One of the best! 😃

Your jokes affected me man🤓, even when I talk to my mom. I might say “I’m Rick James, Bitch!” And she gets it! She’s laughing harder than anyone else.

We watched Robin Hood Men In Tights, Half Baked, The Chappell Show. We didn’t watch everything, that’s about it, but I saw enough to know you were fucking hilarious!

We’re loyal fans and I don’t know who has a need for non religious, “crazy”(like a 🦊), ratical thinkers…? But maybe, if you ever find the need for a goofy, feminine voice actress/overall grounded, good person or sup’m😳. Then I’d be really excited/petrified and If I get a good enough paying gig, I can start saving money for my future sustainable farm and that Tesla SUV thing, and be able to afford to give my 3 kids the future everyone deserves and maybe, when I become successful and philanthropic, I can hopefully help with that too. ”

Then my hope is that he wouldn’t be worried about me as a stranger, but that he had seen that even though I was a little nutty, it was ultimately the same kind of nutty he was. This is hypothetical after all.

But that’s just winging it.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I am going to take a moment to encourage my sister to not be afraid to fail to contact her mentors, who are currently: Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Comedian John Oliver…

“Good luck Sis!”

Ok! Now… let me take this chance to ask you some questions to help you find out who you may look up to.

Clearing your mind and thinking of your favorite memories, think back to who you look up to, who/what really caught your eye for the first time in your life?

What was so special about it?

Where would you be?

Would anyone be with you?

How are you behaving?

What kind of atmosphere is it?

What are you doing?

Are there any smells or feelings that arise?

Follow your favorite thoughts. Play in your mind. Imagine your dreams as if they were a reality and if you focus on it and get really, truly excited about it, ya never know. Maybe something amazing might happen! Even if it doesn’t, rest assured that whatever you truly desire is coming for you, so it’s up to you to decide what approach and attitude you decide to take with this mirror we call life. And have it be YOUR decision. That’s been the only missing ingredient the whole time ; )

Thank you to any and all who read this!

Have a good one!

Working With Distractions In The Modern World

Posted by in Conversation Starters, Life Hacks, News, Uncategorized

I’ve been thinking about every aspect of life lately. I’m a thinker. That’s what I’m guaranteed to have time for. My own thoughts. If I’m busy, working for ‘The Man‘ (or three, four, or more) then.. my body may be busy, but my soul is conversing with me internally.

I may be focused intently on what I’m physically doing, but I can guarantee you that, mentally, I’m all over the map.

When I am finished with my fun and “chores” is when I make time to do this. ..Ya know, “blog”. I’d like to call what I do something different, just because I am that way. So I’m going to come up with a name for random thought blogging. Maybe you can let me know, if there’s already a name for it.

“Plog” ….

This is more of a personal log of anything I feel compelled to write about. So far, I don’t even know what I want it to be labeled. I prefer no labels. I just like to be good at anything and everything, make money from it ethically somehow, and then put the money to good use via sustainable farm. Hiring whoever I meet and can encourage along the way. Joyfully living our family adventure along the way.

I realize how much time can get lost on playing the social media game. I fall into the entertainment-wormhole on occasion…Write post. Share. Fwd. Research “how to make blogging easier on an iPhone 6 Plus”. Watching YouTube videos. Getting called to action #IRL for my kids or other family… and when I come out of it, I find that a few days of electronic rest is desirable, for me. My hands actually ache after holding the slender yet moderately sized phone for any longer than 20 minutes -after doing it everyday for the past 5 years. Rigorously searching for any info, pertinent to my life and how to reach my dream of a happy, successful, sustainable family farm. It taught me a lot about everything. My life taught me the rest.

I really and truly believe in balance. So, if you’re looking for advice on using your phone for business and destraction, beware that it is as limited to the amount of time you put in to your research. If you use YouTube to gather as much info as you can on all the subjects you need to learn, you will be saving massive amounts of time, energy, and personal resources. I have seen and done a lot and seen YouTube videos on a wide array of genres (I prefer comedy and music). Setting a personal limit of how much phone, computer, tablet, iPad, etc. was in my best interest though. Set reminders. Do the work. Hire yourself. You get it.

I find that some people can get restless if I am not immediately available, but in the kindest way, tough!

I’m me no-matter what the weather.

So don’t get lost while reading this. Remember what you came online searching for.

Re-claim that distracted brain. Feed that gut flora a rainbow of foods (mostly vegetables!). And emerge an enhanced version of yourself.

Randomly yours,

Holly

‘An Dains Fierm’ The Journey Has Fully Begun

Posted by in Conversation Starters, Inspiration, News

The most recent visit with my husband, who is an entrepreneur that comes home every 2 weeks for the past few years, has been quite fruitful.

After 15 years of intense dedication, hard work, a little bit of suffering, and a lot more determination, we (The Dains) have found and purchased land in Oregon and will be leaving in less than 2 weeks to see it for the first time.

This is very exciting for us! …You see, I have wanted a sustainable farm since before I was 8 years old. I even did a project on it in school. My mom still has it tucked away somewhere. I saw it a few years ago and it made me so delighted to see how eager I was to be a wonderful little girl on this beautiful planet. I didn’t, and don’t, want to be JUST good. I CHOOSE to be wonderful! (…sometimes…, let’s be honest – no one wants to have to be on all the time ; ) …I want to be above good, because I’m the type that is making up for any un-good I find along the way.

We’re going to take our family and my life experience of growing up in a solar household on 6 acres in the AZ mountains, moving every 2 years since I was 5, being a diy youga/dancer, living on small farms, rescuing and raising animals, training horses, going to public school and being homeschooled, attending some college, finding love (or it finding me), marrying young, having 3 amazing boys close together, healing from a triggered auto-immune disorder (due to obvious and immense anxiety and stress), deciding to push through all the hardships and focus on goals and the now, believing in myself and my family, learning through my own research and studying, and emerging the buttercornicus that I have come to jokingly refer to myself as (Laughter is one of my favorite medicines ; ).

In the next months and years, I will be sharing my family’s adventures in our journey to build our own sustainable farm.

An Dains Fierm” as we’ve been pondering to🤔 call it.

According to google translate, this is ‘The Dains Ranch’ in Irish-ish (The Dains version-we’re like that : )

My family and I are so excited to share our adventures. We have invested in a DJI spark, a DJI Mavic Pro Platinum, GoPro Hero 5 Black, along with Samsung Galaxy Note 8, IPhone 6s, and 6plus.

We’re working hard to learn every aspect of what we need to do. Like I’ve stated before, I use my iPhone 6 Plus for almost everything, especially the WordPress blogging, which I squeeze in whenever my world allows for it. To clarify, I’m a mom first, wife second, and entrepreneur third. This is how I keep myself prioritized for a happy me and happy family (what can I say? I’m a family first kinda-girl!)

I have wondered if my husband wishes he came first, being that If it weren’t for him, the kids wouldn’t even exist, but any mom out there knows: you can’t mess with a mothers love and sometimes spouses unwittingly challenge you to find out who you love the most – and as a partner – you want to be everything for someone (wether you admit it or not) if you seek or are in a relationship, it’s as natural as giving birth itself. You want your favorite version, right?

We know that the road ahead could be long and hard, but that’s all up to the attitude in which we embrace the adventure. We’re not noobies to the diy world. My husband has been a professional welder, electrician, roofer, custom woodworker, builder, lab tech, phlebotomist, EMT, Firefighter, farmer, truck driver, Entrepreneur: All in the past 20 years.

He’s got the skills for the both of us, but I am the yin to his yang. Everywhere he hasn’t had time to learn yet, I’ve seemed to naturally dabble in. I am the creatively chic girl next door that you didn’t know even lived there – haha.

My favorite things to do are usually by myself or with my family and friends. – so a family farm = Happy Holly!

I already have 3 start up business models that I’ll be working on for the property we purchased! I want my “jack of all trades” husband to pick what we work on first, because he’s so talented and we’re at our best when we encourage each other to use our intuition and stay true to ourselves. In doing so, it creates a go-with-the-flow relationship that we both deserve and each personally desires. We love being #dramafree, but life is anything but fully predictable, so let go of anything that’s holding you back, breathe in that good-ass-prana, accept yourself as you are, allow good things to flow to you, and check back soon.

Things happen fast around here…

Do You Know Your Ultimate Desire For Contentment?

Posted by in Conversation Starters, Family, Inspiration

I found that it makes me happiest if I keep my needs very basic and, if you are anything like me, you too desire a life of contentment.

-You’re powering through most days with an ultimate goal of self satisfaction and ever-lasting fulfillment at that rest point I hope you’re imagining in your head for the future (When you’re not living in the now, of course; ).

-That place you can’t wait to be. The one you get up in the morning for and go to bed re-evaluating if you can check any “to-do’s” off your list.

My husband and I work (some would argue: overwork) our butts off in pursuit of this very goal, broken down to its most basic form: Find an attainable position of peace for our family to experience some form of comfort and security-before we’re too old to enjoy it.

For us, this means figuring out OUR best guess of where we would be happiest, purchase property there, create a fully sustainable life, create, live, love, enjoy, share and spread how we decided to do it.

I’ve taken the past few years to study everything I ever wanted to online. I wrote a project about “There is No Harm in My Farm” when I was 8. The fact that it has taken so long for me to attain my dreams was because of self made limitations brought on by my society (the world only I, personally was subjected to) That’s the world that only I experienced and that only I have memories of. It’s the world that created who I am today. I learned my lessons. I grew. I accepted and embraced who I really am and she loves love.

It feels completely attainable. I am aware that there are unfortunately plenty of heart wrenching things going on, practically every moment (somewhere in the world), but I want my families very existence to counter that stuff. However we can.

I want to know that whatever I purchase or make may alleviate suffering somehow.

Did I grow organic (un-poisoned) flowers and other plants for local bees?

Maybe, I purchased something with a 100% compostable packaging.

Maybe, I didn’t do anything at all… Maybe I spent more time at home, not driving around or ordering anything to be delivered.

I have started to do more myself. Looking into what I could be doing on my own instead of a product.

We have to remember that product commercials are meant to sell what they are talking about, so hearing “Why” you need something is meant to convince you that you need it.

I frequently think of how basic our needs really are, and when all those needs are met for every individual… Now that would be one peaceful world 🌎✌🏻.

That’s all I have time for right now. The kids are waking up and if I don’t post this now, I will fill my day with so much fun and chores, I may not find it again until I’m too tired to use my iPhone’s keyboard.

Peace ✌🏻

In It To Win It!

Posted by in Conversation Starters, Family, Inspiration, News

I love to sing. My husband knows this. That’s why he sent me the top Golden Buzzer winners on America’s/Britain’s got talent on YouTube.

I watched the sweetest little girl, I believe her name is Angelica Hail or something. She sang with an amazing professional adult sounding voice and when she finished her song and Howie Mandel asked her if she was.. “In it..” and she finished his sentence and says “to win it!”

..Something like that, but the point is that my husband knows me so well and I heard her sing a beautiful cover song that she had improved upon with her own unique sound and it just poured tea in my cup!

I was so excited thinking about what songs I could remake. I could let people know my favorites and why I like them. Honestly, I have so many ideas you’ll have to come back to keep me on track; )

I’m a go with the flow type, and I’m not one to make promises that I have no intention on keeping. I keep to myself. I help when needed and I go for the goals! The only lord I would ever follow already has a ring and I ate the pesky pea under the mattress. I love finding solutions to everyday issues and finding the kindest way to do anything and everything, but I’m no push over. You poke the bear… expect it to roll over easily and snore ’cause I’m only starting this to improve lives and if trouble is to be had, yee must move yonder! Fore, he who go to bed with itchy butt, wake up with stinky finger! …and! “Ain’t nobody got no time fo dat!”

Seriously though, don’t waste my time and we’re cool… 😎

(Psst! We’re totes cool either way!)

I’m from all over the United States and I watched a lot of TV and movies growing up so I bring a wide range of humor to my ramblings.

Enjoy!

Are You In Your Prime?

Posted by in Conversation Starters, Life Hacks, News

Amazon Prime keeps my world goin’ ’round.

I use the Subscribe and Save section every month, making sure to subscribe to at least five products so that I can save even more money.

‘Cause… I’m trying to minimize and simplify in all aspects of my life, at all times.

So by buying in bulk, only getting the delivery once a month, and not having to drive all over town going to different stores. It’s a win-win for me. Now I have more time to take the kids to parks, meditate, learn something new together, use the yoga trapeze (that I ordered from Amazon), go on bike rides, hikes, create an original piece of jewelry, or expand my world in some other good for the planet way.

The possibilities ARE endless!

See you on the flip side!
– of my yoga trapeze ; )
